God’s Story

The Kennedy Chapters

None of this is really about us.  We, the Kennedy family, are included in but a few chapters of God’s Great Story.  We hope as you read the stories of our journey as disciples of Jesus, that you too are inspired to consider how God is writing your life into His Story.

The Kennedy’s ❤️🤍💙 France

14+ years ago, God put France on our hearts… and now, finally, we are going.

Why France??

This is probably the #1 question we are asked.  France doesn’t need missionaries?!  Churches are quite literally everywhere.  The Notre-Dame de Paris.  The Bourges Cathedral.  Every village has a church.  France is a Christian nation, non

Sadly, this is so far from the truth.

Drive through the countryside in France, and the truth becomes clear.  Churches, yes, are everywhere in France.  But the truth is, these churches are all virtually empty.   Most churches today stand as monuments to an old dead religion.  France simply wears the facade of a “Christian nation” in these buildings that remain.

France today is a society that promotes secularism and distrust for organized religion.  Historical and prominent French thinkers influence the present belief that humanity can exist and find meaning in logic and reasoning alone.  For the French, there is no reason for God to be part of their everyday lives.  And for many in France, “God is Dead”.

In the past 40 years, the number of French people identifying as “non-religious” rose from 27%  to 58%.  While 29% of French people identify as Catholic, only 7% attend mass regularly.  And while growing, evangelical believers represent only 1.6% of the French population.

Today, arts, science and philosophy have become the new religion of the people.

This is the current duality of France:  rich in Christian heritage but destitute in knowledge of Jesus and His grace.

“So Why France?”

As disciples of Jesus, our hearts cry out that GOD is NOT DEAD!

God longs to restore the people of France to Himself, to bring life and hope back into His Church. This is the movement we feel God is calling us to be a part of.

Aix-les-Bains, Savoie

We feel God has called us specifically to the Savoie region of France, more specifically the city of Aix-les-Bains. We will serve alongside a local host church, work hard to “perfect” our French language skills, engage in understanding French culture and prayerfully seek God for wisdom on how He wants us to participate in his mission in France.

As appointed missionaries with Greater Europe Mission, we will have the privilege of being part of a team of missionaries who carry on the vision of discipleship and church planting, with a legacy of ministry in France going back more than 70 years.
