Summer kicks off every year with an end-of-school ritual: the Kermesse. An event held during the last week of school, families gather for an evening of performances put on by the kids followed by food and festivities, games, and often a “ boom” or dance-party. Our church also puts on a Kermesse as an outreach event for friends of families within the church.
This year Brennan invited a friend to join in the fun, and his dad came and stayed to hang out with the parents. Joel and this dad really hit it off, and spent several hours talking about parenting, marriage (well, divorce), and faith. Despite being a muslim, he had many questions about what it meant to be a Jesus follower.
